As we prepare to honor her service one last time, the USS Fort Worth Support Committee is hitting the road (and the water!) for a time of community, camaraderie, and celebration. Here’s what’s in store—and how you can help make it happen.
What’s Happening in San Diego
We’re bringing the Fort Worth spirit to the West Coast for a series of meaningful and fun-filled events for our alumni, members, and supporters.
Crew & Committee Prayer Breakfast
Tuesday, July 28
8:00 - 10:00 AM
Naval Base San Diego Pass & ID Office -- 3101 N Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101 by 7:00. Vans will shuttle guests to and from the ship/pier and the ID Office prior to and at the conclusion of the event
This onboard breakfast will begin with morning colors, prayers and a welcome. This will include ship tours after the meal.
Crew & Committee Appreciation Dinner -- RESERVATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED
Tuesday, July 28
6:30 - 9:00 PM
Pier 1, Hornblower Landing -- 1800 N Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101, USA
Bring your boots and hats and join us for cocktails, a buffet dinner and an evening full of memories, photos and remarks aboard the Adventure Hornblower. We will have a delightful dinner cruise in the San Diego Harbor as we celebrate the history of the ship. Tickets for this dinner are $125. Lockheed Martin is generously underwriting dinner for 35 Active Duty Sailors.
Decommissioning Ceremony
Wednesday, July 29
10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon
Naval Base San Diego Pass & ID Office -- 3101 N Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101 by 9:00. Vans will shuttle guests to and from the ship/pier and the ID Office prior to and at the conclusion of the event
Make plans to attend a traditional decommissioning ceremony complete with pomp and circumstance, speeches and a fond farewell for the USS Fort Worth.
Wake at the I Bar Coronado
Wednesday, July 29
6:00 - 9:00 PM
The World Famous I Bar on Coronado -- Quentin Roosevelt Blvd., Bldg. I, Coronado, CA 92118
Once all the ceremonies are finished, we will gather one last time at the world famous I-Bar on Coronado Island to swap stories and share memories one last time.
What Events are You Attending?
Lets us know which events you will be attending by submitting your RSVP. There will not be a fee to attend the Prayer Breakfast, the Decommissioning or the Wake at the I Bar.
Hotel Information
We are going to use the AC Hotel San Diego Downtown Gaslamp Quarter as the Headquarters Hotel. Hopefully, we will have some vans to move us around from event to event.
